Today, we’re learning the Almond Ridges Stitch—a beautifully textured stitch with raised, almond-shaped ridges. This stitch is perfect for blankets, scarves, and cozy winter accessories!

Materials & Tools

  • Yarn – DK or Aran-weight yarn for best texture

  • Hook – 4mm or 5mm (adjust as needed)

  • Scissors

  • Darning Needle

 


 

Abbreviations (UK Terms)

(US conversions in brackets)

  • ch – Chain

  • dc – Double Crochet (US: Single Crochet)

  • tr – Treble Crochet (US: Double Crochet)

  • fpdc – Front Post Double Crochet (US: Front Post Single Crochet)

  • bpdc – Back Post Double Crochet (US: Back Post Single Crochet)

  • st(s) – Stitch(es)

Almond Ridges Stitch Pattern

Foundation Chain:

Make a multiple of 4 + 2 chains (e.g., 18, 22, 26, etc.).

Row 1:

  1. Dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc across. Turn.

Row 2:

  1. Ch 2 (counts as first tr), fpdc around next st, tr in next 2 sts, bpdc around next st.

  2. Repeat from * to * across, ending with a tr in the last st. Turn.

Row 3:

  1. Ch 2, bpdc around next st, tr in next 2 sts, fpdc around next st.

  2. Repeat from * to * across, ending with a tr in the last st. Turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 for the pattern.
