Today, we’re diving into the Arcade Stitch—a stunning, openwork pattern with a scalloped, lace-like effect. It’s perfect for lightweight shawls, blankets, and elegant garments. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crocheter, you’ll love this stitch!

Materials & Tools

  • Yarn – DK or worsted-weight yarn for best results

  • Hook – 4mm or 5mm (adjust according to yarn)

  • Scissors

  • Darning Needle

 


 

Abbreviations (UK Terms)

(US conversions in brackets)

  • ch – Chain

  • dc – Double Crochet (US: Single Crochet)

  • tr – Treble Crochet (US: Double Crochet)

  • sk – Skip

  • sp – Space

Arcade Stitch Pattern

Foundation Chain:

Make a multiple of 6 + 1 chains (e.g., 19, 25, 31, etc.).

Row 1:

  1. Dc in 2nd ch from hook, sk 2 ch, 7 tr in next ch, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch.

  2. Repeat from * to * across. Turn.

Row 2:

  1. Ch 3 (counts as first tr), 3 tr in first dc, dc in 4th tr of next 7-tr group, 7 tr in next dc.

  2. Repeat from * to * across, ending with 4 tr in last dc. Turn.

Row 3:

  1. Ch 1, dc in first tr, 7 tr in next dc, dc in 4th tr of next 7-tr group.

  2. Repeat from * to * across. Turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 until your project reaches the desired length.
