Camel Stitch

Hey Crocheters! Nadia here, the creator of New Mom Spirit!

Today, I’m showing you how to crochet the Camel Stitch, a beautiful technique that creates a subtle ribbed texture, resembling knitted fabric! This is perfect for cozy projects like sweaters, hats, and blankets.

Let’s get started!

  • Yarn – Any weight, but worsted or DK works best

  • Hook – Recommended size for your yarn (4mm or 5mm)

  • Scissors

  • Darning Needle

Abbreviations (UK Terms)

(US conversions in brackets)

  • ch – Chain

  • dc – Double Crochet (US: Single Crochet)

Camel Stitch Pattern

Foundation Row:

Make an even-numbered chain (e.g., 20, 24, 28, etc.).

Row 1:

  1. Htr in 2nd ch from hook and across. Turn.

Row 2:

  1. Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch).

  2. Htr in the third loop (behind the back loop).

  3. Repeat across. Turn.

Repeat Row 2 for the desired length.

Tips for Success

✅ Find the third loop! It’s behind the back loop, giving the ribbed effect.
✅ Use soft yarn to enhance the cozy texture.
✅ Work loosely to make finding the third loop easier.
