Shell Stitch Pattern

Foundation Chain

Start with a multiple of 6 + 2 chains.

Row 1: (Foundation row)

  • Dc (UK: tr) in the second ch from hook.

  • Skip 2 ch, work 5 tr (US: dc) into the next ch, skip 2 ch, dc (UK: sc) into the next ch.

  • Repeat across the row.

  • Turn.

Row 2: (Building the Shells)

  • Ch 3 (counts as first tr, US: dc).

  • Work 5 tr (US: dc) into the middle dc (UK: tr) of the previous row's shell. Skip to the next shell, dc (UK: sc) in the center stitch of the shell.

  • Repeat across the row.

  • Turn.

Row 3 & Beyond:

  • Repeat Row 2 until your desired length is reached!
