Solomon’s Knot Stitch

Hey Crocheters! It’s Nadia here, the creator of New Mom Spirit.

I’ve been crocheting for over two decades, and today, I’m excited to teach you a stunning, lacy stitch—the Solomon’s Knot (also called the Love Knot). This stitch creates an airy, elegant fabric, perfect for shawls, scarves, and lightweight wraps.

Let’s dive in!

Materials & Tools

  • Yarn – A light, airy yarn like cotton or lace-weight works best.

  • Hook – 4mm or 5mm (adjust based on your yarn choice).

  • Scissors

  • Darning Needle

This stitch works best with smooth yarn that doesn’t split easily!

Solomon’s Knot Stitch Pattern

Foundation Row:

  1. Make a slipknot and ch 2.

  2. Pull up a loop about 1cm to 2cm tall.

  3. Yarn over and pull through (creating a large loop).

  4. Insert your hook behind the loop, yarn over, and pull through to secure it.

  5. This completes one Solomon’s Knot (sk).

  6. Repeat this process to create an even number of knots for your desired width.

Row 1:

  1. Ch 1, dc into the back loop of the second knot from the hook.

  2. Make 2 Solomon’s Knots, skip one knot, and dc into the next knot.

  3. Repeat from * to * across. Turn.

Row 2 & Beyond:

  1. Ch 1, dc into the first knot.

  2. Make 2 Solomon’s Knots, skip one knot, and dc into the next knot.

  3. Repeat across and turn.

Continue repeating Row 2 until your project reaches the desired length.
