The Accidental Birth of Little Makers Academy
Share
I never meant to start a craft academy.
I have been a mother for nearly 8 years now, and I have always tried and practised crafting with them, finding the courage to pursue a career in crafting over 5 years ago since it was always my passion. But an academy? What?! No way.
Since I home-educate my children, they are always around me. They learn a lot from me. This made me realise how much both enjoy arts & crafts, so I was teaching them more and more. Sharing their progress and my work with local mothers placed the idea in my mind.
Everyone was begging me for classes, I search local halls, nothing was working, I was upset and demotivated, until the little light turn brighter and a little voice inside me told me "you have all the tools! why not doing it in here? Do you really want to travel around the city through different halls with tools and two young children multiple times a week?" the answer was clear.
I took my tablet, opened my Canva account and started experimenting with designs, checking names available online, etc. and one evening, when my head was falling forward and my eyelids where heavy, I decided to take the leap of my faith and publish it all!
Little did I know what I would find out the next morning: multiple messages, views and feedback across all platforms.
From there, mothers start bringing their little crafters to us and leaving with a bunch of projects on their little hands and a bright smile on their cute faces.
Was I crazy? Maybe. But I wouldn't change my decision for anything in the world. And do it all over again if I must.
With love, Nadia.
