Blocked Bead Stitch

Hey Crocheters! ✨ It’s Nadia here, the owner and creator of New Mom Spirit!

Today, I’m sharing a gorgeous textured stitch with you—the Blocked Bead Stitch! This stitch adds raised, bead-like clusters that create a unique, bumpy texture, making it perfect for blankets, scarves, and even cozy sweaters!

If you love stitches with a mix of texture and structure, you’ll absolutely enjoy this one.

What is the Blocked Bead Stitch?

The Blocked Bead Stitch is created by alternating double crochet (UK: treble crochet) stitches with puff-like bead clusters. The result is a structured yet soft fabric that’s great for adding dimension to your crochet work.

Blocked Bead Stitch Pattern

Foundation Chain

Start with an even number of stitches + 2 extra chains for the turning chain.

Row 1: (Foundation Row)

  • Tr (US: dc) in the 4th ch from hook and in each stitch across.

  • Turn.

Row 2: (Creating the Beads)

  • Ch 3 (counts as first tr, US: dc).

  • Tr (US: dc) in the next stitch. Work a bead stitch in the next stitch: Yarn over, insert hook around the post of the previous tr (US: dc), pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). Repeat until you have 5 loops on the hook, then yarn over and pull through all loops.

  • Repeat this pattern across the row.

  • Turn.

Row 3 & Beyond:
