Today, I’m teaching you the Spider Stitch, a beautifully textured, tight, and dense stitch. It’s perfect for projects like dishcloths, scarves, and even cozy sweaters. If you love a structured yet soft fabric, this stitch is a must-learn!
Let’s get started!
Materials & Tools

Yarn – Any weight, but worsted or DK works best

Hook – Recommended size for your yarn (4mm or 5mm)

Darning Needle
Abbreviations (UK Terms)
(US conversions in brackets)

ch – Chain
-
dc – Double Crochet (US: Single Crochet)
-
sp – Space
-
st(s) – Stitch(es)

Spider Stitch Pattern
Foundation Chain:
Make an odd-numbered chain (e.g., 21, 23, 25, etc.).
Row 1:
-
Dc in 2nd ch from hook.
-
Ch 1, dc in same stitch.
-
Skip next stitch.
-
Repeat from * to * across. Turn.
Row 2:
-
Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch).
-
Dc, ch 1, dc in ch-1 space of previous row.

Repeat across. Turn.
Repeat Row 2 until the desired length.
Tips for Success
