Today, we're diving into the Berry Stitch—a beautifully textured stitch that creates small, raised "berry-like" bumps. This stitch is perfect for adding dimension to blankets, scarves, beanies, and even sweaters.
Let’s get started!
Materials & Tools

Yarn – Any weight, but DK or Aran works best

Hook – Recommended size for your yarn (4mm or 5mm)

Scissors

Darning Needle
Abbreviations (UK Terms)

ch – Chain
-
dc – Double Crochet (US: Single Crochet)

tr – Treble Crochet (US: Double Crochet)

berry – Berry Stitch (explained below)

st(s) – Stitch(es)

Berry Stitch Pattern
Foundation Chain:
Make an odd-numbered chain (e.g., 21, 23, 25, etc.).
Row 1:

Dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc across. Turn.
Row 2:
-
Ch 1 (does not count as a st).

Dc in next st, berry stitch in next st (explained below).

Repeat from * to * across, ending with a dc. Turn.
Berry Stitch:

Yarn over, insert hook into stitch.

Yarn over, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook).

Yarn over, pull through one loop (still 3 loops on hook).

Yarn over, insert hook into same stitch, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook).

Yarn over, pull through all loops, then ch 1 to secure the berry stitch.
Row 3:
-
Ch 1, dc across. Turn.
Row 4:
-
Repeat Row 2, placing berry stitches in alternating spaces.
Continue repeating Rows 3 and 4 to maintain the pattern.
