Today, I’m excited to introduce you to the Little Arches Stitch—a beautifully textured stitch with small, curved arches that create a delicate, lacy effect. It’s perfect for lightweight projects like scarves, shawls, baby blankets, and even summer tops.

Let’s get started!

 


 

Materials & Tools

  • Yarn – Choose a DK or worsted-weight yarn for a structured look, or a lighter yarn for a more delicate effect.

  • Hook – 4mm or 5mm (or whatever suits your yarn choice).

  • Scissors

  • Darning Needle

 


 

Abbreviations (UK Terms)

(US conversions in brackets)

  • ch – Chain

  • dc – Double Crochet (US: Single Crochet)

  • tr – Treble Crochet (US: Double Crochet)

  • sk – Skip

  • sp – Space

Little Arches Stitch Pattern

Foundation Chain:

Make a multiple of 4 + 1 chains (e.g., 21, 25, 29, etc.).

Row 1:

  1. Dc in 2nd ch from the hook and across. Turn.

Row 2:

  1. Ch 1, dc in first st.

  2. Ch 3, sk 3, tr in next st, ch 3, dc in same st.

  3. Repeat from * to * across. Turn.

Row 3:

  1. Ch 1, dc in first st.

  2. Ch 3, sk the tr stitch, tr in next dc, ch 3, dc in same st.

  3. Repeat from * to * across. Turn.

Repeat Row 3 until your project reaches the desired length.
