Today, I’m sharing a beautifully delicate stitch—the Primrose Stitch! This elegant pattern creates a lovely lace-like effect with subtle texture, perfect for lightweight blankets, scarves, and garments.

Let’s dive into this gorgeous stitch!

 


 

Materials & Tools

  • Yarn – DK or worsted-weight yarn for best results.

  • Hook – 4mm or 5mm (adjust according to yarn).

  • Scissors

  • Darning Needle

 


 

Abbreviations (UK Terms)

(US conversions in brackets)

  • ch – Chain

  • dc – Double Crochet (US: Single Crochet)

  • htr – Half Treble Crochet (US: Half Double Crochet)

  • tr – Treble Crochet (US: Double Crochet)

  • sk – Skip

Primrose Stitch Pattern

Foundation Chain:

Make a multiple of 3 + 2 chains (e.g., 23, 26, 29, etc.).

Row 1:

  1. Dc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 2, sk 2 ch, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch.

  2. Repeat from * to * across, ending with 1 dc in the last ch. Turn.

Row 2:

  1. Ch 2 (counts as first htr), htr in first dc, 3 tr in next ch-2 space.

  2. Repeat from * to * across, ending with htr in last dc. Turn.

Row 3:

  1. Ch 1, dc in first st, ch 2, sk 2 tr, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next tr.

  2. Repeat from * to * across, ending with 1 dc in the last st. Turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 until your project reaches the desired length.
